About Roll & Say Syllables:
Use these BLACK & WHITE worksheets to teach simple CV sound patterns to children with a variety of speech sound production difficulties, such as apraxia of speech and use of some phonological processes (ex. stopping, backing, initial and medial consonant deletion, weak syllable deletion, voicing).
The sound targets included are easily combined with each other to create 1-, 2-, 3- syllable “nonsense” words. As students are able to use CV segments (single syllables), add another syllable to practice CVCV segments (2-syllables), and then CVCVCV segments (3-syllables) when they’re ready! Since all worksheets are in black and white they are easy to print and reproduce.
Included in this pack are:
*worksheets to teach simple syllables in CV segments, which includes /p, b, m, n, h, w/ AND BONUS SHEETS for /t, d/.
*Roll & Say Syllable game boards/worksheets for students to practice alternating 2- and 3-syllable words.
Directions for Roll & Say Syllables:
These boards can be used as worksheets or more of a game board. To use as a worksheet, simply print out and use paint daubers, stickers, or markers to fill in the circles and/or boxes. To use as a game board, laminate the sheets you wish to use, and cover the circles/boxes with bingo chips.
*Choose the target sound for your student, and print those corresponding worksheets (laminate if not using paint daubers).
*Start with CV segments (pages 3-10). Use these pages to teach sounds at the syllable level. When the student produces “x” number of syllables, they fill in a circle (see suggestions above). Continue until all circles are full, & send home for reinforcement/homework. Use these same sheets to practice reduplicating 2 syllable segments (ex. Bee-bee, bay-bay, etc.) in the same manner above.
*When students are ready to alternate sounds using 2-syllable segments (ex. Bee-boo, bay-bye, etc), print the pages you need (pages 11-19). Roll 2 dice, and match one number to the top and one to the side rows. Say the corresponding syllable segments, and fill in the corresponding box in the middle of the board.
*3-syllable alternating words are on page 20. Roll 3 dice and match the numbers to the top and side rows. Say the 3 syllables back-to- back to create a 3 syllable nonsense word.
