This was a cute activity I made out of the blue...looking for something to help my little darlings practice some of the addition/subtraction strategies we had been working on in class. This activity includes practicing: +1/-1, +2/-2, doubles, and doubles +1. How you complete the activity is: Students roll dice (this can be your standard dice or larger numbered dice). They record the number rolled. Then use the spinner (meant to be used with a small paper clip) to spin their strategy to use with the number they rolled. They also record the strategy that was spun. The last column they formulate their number sentence based on their roll and spin...and then lastly, solve their number sentence. I have created this activity to be simply one sided, or two sided (all your students would have to do is flip the paper to spin). My students really enjoyed the activity...and it helped with practicing these strategy areas. Hope you will enjoy it too!
