My students LOVED this station! It provided enough scaffolding for reluctant writers but entertainment for all the students.
Students roll a dice and record which words match up with each roll, adding to the sentence. Each sentence takes 5 rolls to complete. The students write 5 sentences for each mat (feel free to change this to suit), then swap it with a mat of a different coloured pencil to continue the fun.
Included are 6 different mats with one repeated to include the altering of regional spelling of mum / mom.
HONESTLY - The child in my class who refuses to write was so involved in this task that he wrote 2 complete pages of sentences (I’m serious)! Then he wanted to get up and share with everyone during our reflection time. Everyone in my class cheered for him – it was a wonderful moment that provided him with success and a huge smile. He asked me if we could do it again one day!
