Product Description
So— you don’t have a classroom set for this novel. No problem, read the novel to your students and use these tests to assess listening skills.
This is a complete set; four tests cover the whole book. These four ELA reading/listening comprehension tests for Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry were written for use in regular, inclusion, and special education sixth or seventh grade classrooms. In addition to the tests, this package includes character study guides for students, several modified sections and answer keys for teachers. This complete package includes 94 pages. There are between 49 and 54 questions, plus an essay question for each test.
The word “modified” only appears on the teacher’s answer keys. Therefore, you will have to sort these pages out when printing your unit. All modified questions are in the sequencing, quotes, and character identification portion of the tests and are on separate pages.
Each test is made up of multiple choice; sequencing; true/false questions; character identification— matching; and identifying quotes— fill in the blank. The test is easy to correct and provides an accurate tool to check student’s understanding of the material.
In keeping with the Common Core Standards, page numbers from the book are provided for each question giving the teacher the choice to encourage students to use the text to find their answers. The questions are designed to test: recognizing cause and effect; recalling facts and details; comparing and contrasting; understanding sequence; making predictions; finding word meaning in context; identifying author’s purpose; drawing conclusions and making inferences; interpreting figurative language; and understanding metaphors and similes.
Experience proves that the more competent students successfully answer many of the questions using recall, while less competent students rely heavily on using the provided page numbers and the text, making these tests useful tools to help the overall student population become more confident readers.
Coming— mid August, 2016, Character Game for Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry. Be sure to come back and check it out.
