PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

In this lab, students look at the conversion between gravitational potential energy (PEgrav) and Kinetic Energy (KE). In addition, they look at the Law of Conservation of Energy, determining where their marble coaster "loses" mechanical energy.

The lab portion consists of students use a piece of foam pipe insulation to create a "roller coaster".

It's a very simple lab, and one that I use as a precursor to the Roller Coaster Extravaganza project, which I have in my store.

You will need one section of 3/4" foam pipe insulation (cut in half) for every TWO groups, in addition to a standard marble (1/2"?) for each group.

This lab is in Word format, and I encourage you to modify it to meet the exact needs of your students, or your teaching style.
