Students will create a VISUAL DISPLAY (drawing, model, or Google Slides) of one of the major contributions from the Roman Republic and Empire. This project usually lasts about 7-8 classroom sessions and includes an accompanying 2 paragraph essay. The first week of the class we go over each contribution and the last 3 days we work on the writing (gathering evidence, forming our thesis/ideas, and writing structure).
Students use all our classroom activities (videos, role playing, vocabulary, close readings, etc) to complete their project. In a classroom session, I usually spend half the time on research/notes and the other half letting them work on the project.
Included in this packet is the project instructions, the 2 paragraph essay organizer, and the classroom notes organizer. Not included are the articles I adapted from internet sources. The main video I use is called "Engineering an Empire" by History Chanel but there are plenty of others that work just as well.
