Product Description
This activity allows students to explore examples of paintings and music from the Romanticism movement, which developed in Europe at the end of the 18th century. First, students analyze three paintings and three pieces of music from the Romanticism movement and identify how they were an extension of Enlightenment and Nationalist ideas. Then, students have the option to either draw a picture or write a poem in which they depict either visually or through the written word the emotions and feelings that the examples of Romantic artwork and music have evoked in them, and how Enlightenment and Nationalist ideas show through the examples that they have analyzed.

Two files are included in the zip file: student handout/directions (Word document) and slides with the paintings and YouTube links to the music selections (Powerpoint file).
