This document provides you with 4 selected scenes from Kids Love Shakespeare's adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. Each scene is ready to be printed, copied, and placed in the hands of students. These scenes can be used as part of a Reader's Theatre activity, or as an exploration of Shakespeare and drama.

CONTENTS AND CHARACTERS
SCENE ONE: HEARTBROKEN ROMEO
In this scene Romeo talks of his love for Rosaline. Benvolio and Mercutio try to cheer him up. They decide to go to a party at the house of Capulet. It provides speaking roles for 4 students (all male characters).
SCENE TWO: ROMEO & JULIET MEET
In this scene Romeo speaks to Juliet for the first time. When Juliet is called away, the Nurse informs Romeo that she is the daughter of Capulet. Benvolio and Mercutio come to take Romeo away from the party, but Romeo disappears to find Juliet. It provides speaking roles for 6 students (2 female characters, 4 male characters).
SCENE THREE: THE STREET BRAWL
In this scene Tybalt tries to confront Romeo and ends up killing Mercutio. Romeo is filled with rage and kills Tybalt in revenge. It provides speaking roles for 7 students (all male characters).
SCENE FOUR: DEATH IN THE TOMB
In this scene Romeo finds Juliet in the tomb and poisons himself. Juliet wakes to find Romeo dead, and chooses to take her own life using his dagger. The Prince and families find the cold lovers and Balthasar and Friar Lawrence explain the tragedy. It provides speaking roles for 11 students (3 female characters, 9 male characters).
