Product Description
How do you teach Shakespeare with a class full of girls? You write an original parody script. I took out the tragedy and added some humor by exploring the silly side of "love at first sight." Add, delete or change characters (and names) to suit your own class needs, but the basics are here. It's a great way to introduce Shakespeare to a middle school class or a 9th grade English class. All of the original story elements are here, complete with five acts, but it is short, funny and relatable to young teens. This script was performed by 7th and 8th grade students at a district wide arts festival and the audiences loved it. It runs about 15 minutes, uses no set and very few prop pieces. As an extended activity, have students make their own masks for the masquerade ball.
