Two active learning tasks - Cloze activity, and Events ordering activity based on a 300 word summary of Act 4 of the play by William Shakespeare.
These activities are designed to test and promote students' learning of the plot. They could be used as an in-class assignment, homework or for revision.
For the cloze activity, students are asked to complete a summary of events in "fill in the gaps" format. Each scene is completed separately. There is a word bank to assist students. This is a fun way to get students to focus on the key plot elements.
For the second activity I have used the same summary of the events of Act 4. This is a sequencing activity. Sentences/Events are presented in the incorrect order. Students are asked to number sentences in the right order, and then write out the summary.
The answer key to both activities is included.
I find that students learn better when they have to create their own notes, rather than just providing these for them. But for some, the blank page is too difficult. These tasks provide scaffolding to get them started.

I usually ask students to complete either one or other of the activities, not both. The second task could be used after a period of time, as a revision exercise.
