In Act 2, Scene 2 of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo finds his way of the Capulet's orchard wall. Your students are tasked with designing a mechanism that Romeo could have used to get himself over the wall. This resource requires materials found in most classrooms and can be easily modified or differentiated. Gamify your classroom by turning this activity into a contest, methods for earning and calculating points are included in this download.

*A brainstorm page for student to sketch their design that includes the text from Act 2, Scene 2 to guide the design process
*A materials list and scoring guide for students to track their own scores
*Team Member Contribution Graphic Organizer: a place for teams to reflect on how each team member contributed to the process
*Roles and Responsibilities Cards: A set of cards with historically accurate roles and responsibilities that can be used to organize and structure team work for student groups
*Understanding Act 2, Scene 2: A worksheet with an excerpt from the text to be used prior to the activity to help students understand what happens in the scene. Lines from the scene can be rewritten by students in student friendly language
*Reflection Questions: A set of reflection questions that can be used in groups or as a whole class to encourage students to reflect on the team's processes
*Challenge Cards: A set of optional challenge cards that can be used to modify or differentiate the activities for individual groups. Challenges can also earn students extra points or cause them to lose points. Teams could choose these at random, be assigned by the teacher, or have the choice as to whether or not to use them
