This powerpoint includes 22 slides capturing the key scenes and moments from Baz Luhrman's film version of Romeo and Juliet. Each slide has a title which clearly and succinctly summaries the plot easily for students.
I use Luhrman's film to help students engage with Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet before or after a close reading or excerpts from the play.
These shots are ideal for visual literacy and film analysis too. I use the shots to help students discuss mood, symbol and theme.
As the film is full of intertextual references and is probably the best example of transformation, using this powerpoint in class will also help students engage more deeply with the themes of the play and connect it to their world.
