Looking for an essay topic that is not boring?!

This is part of the final exam in my Freshman English class. Students have written papers all semester, so this does not include a lot of help/reminders, although we do discuss it in class. Students are allowed to bring all of this and their Romeo and Juliet journal (which we keep up with as they read that is basically a summary of every scene in a little interactive notebook). I give this to students three or four days before the exam date in order to answer any questions. They have to choose quotations that show their topic’s progression throughout the play.

Included:
Page 1&2: Cover art/Explanation of assignment

Page 3&4: Will be a front and back sheet that explains the paper, has an outline, and shows them how to correctly punctuate quotations from a drama. Also has an example body paragraph. The body paragraph is written from the topic “Is Juliet’s dad a good father?” If I do one with this topic, they tend to plagiarize.

Page 5: Quotations from the play if they choose action hero

Page 6: Quotations from the play if they choose emotional wreck [I print it off front and back]

Page 7: Rubric

This is included in the bundle:
Romeo and Juliet Final Exam Essay Bundle!

I also have a topic for "Romeo and Juliet: Love or Infatuation click here for it!
