A new test to address a new era in education!
We created this 100-question final assessment on Romeo and Juliet to align with Common Core State Standards (which are assessed not only on the SBAC and PARCC tests but also on the new SAT). The test contains six close reading passages from the book. Accompanying questions assess context-based vocabulary skills and the ability to read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and implicitly, to determine central ideas or themes, to recognize tone as well as other stylistic devices, and to analyze character. Additional questions require comprehension of the entire play and will help teachers determine whether students read it. Although not foolproof, these questions concern specific information not necessarily covered in the plethora of study guides on the Internet.
We have included two versions of the test, a general one and one for advanced learners which includes “none of the above” as one of the possible answers for each question. We have also included a practice test with a passage from the play and ten questions.
The 12-page test is formatted to work on a scantron machine for quick, accurate grading. The test is made up of multiple choice questions. Keys for both tests are included.
