Product Description
Students will create a newspaper in groups of any size. Each student will write one newspaper article that analyzes the character motivations and actions of Benvolio, Mercutio, Tybalt, or Romeo in Act 3, Scene 1 of Romeo and Juliet. Students will each play the role of reporter, copy editor, and layout designer to produce a final product that combines all of the articles into a newspaper. This project incorporates rigorous writing expectations (citing evidence, providing explanations to back up claims), while still allowing students to use their creative writing skills.

The product includes directions, a planning sheet with a graphic organizer and suggested outline, and a rubric.

The newspaper could easily be completed on poster paper, using online tools like Canva, or using a traditional word processor or publisher.
