This project can be done after reading and studying Romeo & Juliet. This is a research project that is inspired in some ways by the play but is not directly related. Students will be able to choose any topic they would like to research that is, in some way, related to themes or plot points in the play.Students have complete choice in this creative research project: they pick their own topics, their own products, even their own rubrics (all of which are provided)!
This is an incredibly engaging way to introduce or practice conducting research with your students. Students love being able to choose their own project topic and their product; their creativity will amaze you!

-"My favorite project this year was the research project. This is because I really liked the independence that we received while actually researching and putting it together. Also, it was nice to research a topic that interested me and it was interesting to see what projects my peers had created."
-"The Romeo and Juliet creative research project was one of my favorites because I had the chance to pick something I really liked to research and present in a project and I had a lot of fun doing it."
-"My favorite assignment was the Romeo and Juliet research project because we had a lot of freedom. In my other classes this year and in the past the teachers usually make a lot of rules and guidelines we have to follow specifically, and I never had the chance to pick my own topic and product."
