This simple reading log is extremely versatile, but helps to keep students on track while reading "Romeo and Juliet". The handout prompts students to choose three quotes that they deem most important in the specified scene. Then, students must translate the chosen quotes into modern English.
I like to print out a page for each scene in Act II of the text; I usually have students read Act I without any interruptions to allow them to get a feeling for the text, but I find that they can sometimes drift off by Act II. So, I use this reading log to keep them engaged.
