Sometimes it can be very difficult teaching low students how to write a successful paper. Have no fear, this has everything you need! In this assignment, students decide whether they believe Romeo was a hero or an emotional wreck.
First I give the students pages 3-5. We discuss why good support is important and then I explain the worksheets to them. Page three is the sheet where they write down the quotations they choose, with act, scene, and line numbers.
Page four and five are the quotations I give them to pick from. They pick three quotations and write them down on the worksheet from page 3.
Page 6 is a sheet where they write their practice introduction. It has bullet points explaining what they need to have for each sentence and then a blank lined space beneath to write it.
Page 7 explains how to write each body paragraph and cite the quotations.
Page 8 is the rubric that is left blank for you to add your own point values. It has grades for the introduction, all body paragraphs combined, and “overall”, which includes grammar, spelling, etc. I did not require them to write a conclusion. Getting them to write much of anything is a success.
