Handouts in PDF format contains 30 task cards. Each card contains an ice breaker question in Spanish. Great activity for Back to School.
I usually have students sit in a circle and I place the ice breaker questions in the middle of the circle in a Mexican clay pot or basket. Students have to take a question out of the pot and return to their seats.
Students then quietly read their questions and I allow time for them to think about the answer and how to answer it in Spanish. Some students find it helpful to write their answers first and then read aloud.
Great ice breaker activity for the first day of school and to get them started speaking in the target language. It's also an informal assessment which allows me to plan for the following week's lessons based on their oral proficiency.
