Need a quick and easy way to practice and get exposure to prefixes, suffixes and roots? This Root of the Week activity is a great way to expose your students to the different roots and affixes without making them memorize spelling words! This could be a literacy center, morning work activity, beginning of class activity, etc!
Each week their is a different root, prefix or suffix for the students to practice with. They write the definition, give examples of words, and draw pictures in their "Root of the Week" packet. Then they make words using the root or affix with an extra activity.
After the Unit is over (12 weeks) students get to practice and review the roots and affixes they have practiced with three different games: Memory, I Have, Who Has and Headbandz!
