Description
What exactly do the roots of a plant do? Doesn't the stem just hold up the leaves? Take a closer look at plant physiology and teach students what plants need to survive and how they get it. Students will create hypotheses about roots and stems and then examine these plant parts closely and learn about their primary functions. Interesting vocabulary words covered in this investigation and discovery lesson include xylem, phloem, and cross-section.
