Rosa Parks, Her Life and Times is designed as a multi-purpose informational reading and writing unit for upper elementary students and can be used in an ELA or a Social Studies class. Each of the three texts can be used one at a time (but in sequence).
The texts are chronological:
Part 1 is titled “Rosa Parks’ Early Life”,
Part 2 “Segregation on the Buses”, and
Part 3 “Rosa Parks’ Legacy”.
Each text has:
--- a page of questions (inference, factual, and opinion) and
--- a page of vocabulary and language use work and a short creative writing assignment .
There is a total of six pages of student work, two each for the three texts. Each text has a relevant illustration.
---A full answer key is provided for all objective work.
