Product Description
Rosario Ferré PPT in PDF format is a brief biography for the Puerto Rican writer. PPT also makes connections to some historical information for Ponce. I like introducing the author with a PPT to students prior to reading her essay in Spanish "Frankenstein: Una versión política del mito de la maternidad." It's a long essay (12 pages) so I only have student read fragments, just enough for them to get a taste of the author's style.

The last slide of the PPT has statements based on the PPT which students have to indicate if the statements are true or false. Just my way of keeping the students on their toes. I collect their answers and grade it.

I also have them complete a KWL chart. The first column they complete before viewing the PPT, the second column they complete is for what they have learned about the author during the presentation and the last column they fill out is with any questions they may have which leads to an independent web quest (HW) and then they share with the class the next day which gives them extra speaking practice (Do Now for the next day).
