Diane DeGroat's story, "Roses are Pink, Your Feet Really Stink", is a funny Valentine's story which teaches an important lesson. Gilbert decides to play a Valentine's prank, but when the trick doesn't go as he plans, Gilbert learns a lesson about treating others the way you want to be treated.
This activity is a board game which incorporates text dependent questions as well as events from the story as the game progresses. The only supplies students need to play the game are dice and pawns. The game can be played with a partner or in small groups. It can be printed on an 8 1/2x11 page and mounted inside a file folder or on cardstock to make it sturdier.
