In my classroom I love to use these different craft activities to help students enjoy practicing the skills we have been working on in our math program. One skill that my students can get easily bored with is rounding. In third grade we review and practice as part of Module 2 (Eureka/Engage NY). Round is not the most fun skill to practice, so in comes Round-a-Scarecrow! I use it during Maker’s Monday (every Monday morning we ease into the week with a craft or building activity as morning work). This could also be used as a center, small group, or for fast finishers. This product can also be found in my Orchard Centers Room Transformation pack..
This product is easy to prep. I like to print all of the center signs in color. The scarecrow parts are all black and white for easy copying. I laminate the Price Sheets needed to help them to last longer, but is not necessary. I included written directions to help with student independence if desired. I have 8” x 10” acrylic picture frames to put the center directions in, but this is not necessary either.
