I created and developed this rounding bookmark tool to allow students to have a fun graphic they can use to assist them while learning how to round. I made it simple and colorful so the visual will become embedded in their memory with repeated use, ultimately allowing them to become independent in this skill.
I am a big supporter of teaching the children the foundational basis for mathematical concepts. However, I also understand that children have diverse needs. So, I decided to create a rounding tool that lends itself to how you feel your children will do best with this skill. You can use these bookmarks to teach the shortcut of “5 or more up the score” or you can use this to support the conceptual understanding of the rounding concept. I hope you find this aspect useful as you differentiate for your children.
An example of how to use this is included in the file. :)
