Rounding to the nearest ten or hundred is easy when students solve these mystery pictures. They will round whole numbers to the nearest 10 or 100 by filling in the blanks on the Clues printable, then draw the lines shown in the clue into the corresponding square in their Answer Grid. To locate a particular square, they’ll refer the Tens and Hundreds on the grid for puzzle A (owl) and the Hundreds and Thousands for puzzle B (squirrel).
These puzzles are self-checking: if a square doesn’t seem to fit in, your kiddos can read the clue again and correct it. When the puzzle is complete, students color it in with their choice of colors so each picture will be unique. Makes a fun bulletin board or door display. Great for math centers or fast finishers!
Aligned with this Common Core math standard:CCSS.Math.Content.3.NBT.A.1 Use place value understanding to round whole numbers to the nearest 10 or 100.
The puzzles go up to 990 or 9,900 and have forty clues. Suitable for Second, Third, and Fourth grades and any student needing review of place value and rounding. Answer Keys are included. See the thumbnails and download the Preview for more information.
