This fun mini unit is all you need to introduce and practice rounding numbers to the nearest tens and hundreds (3rd Grade Common Core standard).
- Six PRACTICE Pages...Use these pages to introduce and practice the concept on the first day.
- I-SPY GAME...Once students have a strong understanding of how to round to the nearest ten and hundred, have some fun playing “I Spy”. To play, the teacher should cut out and hide all 32 questions around the room (under desks, on bookshelves, etc.) before students are in the room. When students are present, give them the recording sheet. When you say “go”, they try to find every question in the room. This is perfect for a 45 minute class period.
- GO FISH GAME...Print the cards onto cardstock and laminate. Students will ask, “Do you have a number that rounds to _____”. There are four cards in the deck that round to the same number and a total of 19 sets of rounded numbers. It is perfect for days three and four or to put into centers. My students begged to play this game for free time weeks after I taught the unit!
- ANSWER KEYS are included for the printable practice pages and I-Spy.
This product is specifically aligned the the 3rd Grade Common Core Standard 3.NBT.A.1 (Use place value understanding to round whole numbers to the nearest 10 or 100) but since many districts require rounding in earlier grades, it works well in 1st and 2nd grade classrooms as well.
I would love to have your feedback if you purchase this product!
