Rounding to the nearest hundred requires students to have a good understanding of place value and number sense. The activities in this product are designed to help your students learn to round numbers to the nearest 100 by providing experiences using both a number line and also a number chart.
These activities align with 3.NBT.A.1: Use place value understanding to round whole numbers to the nearest 10 or 100.
The included activities are divided into two parts:
1. Using a number chart: Teaching suggestions to use with small groups, two different types of number charts counting by 10s from 0-1000, a game for partner or center work, number cards to use with your lesson and with the game, and an independent practice worksheet that could also be used as a pre or post assessment.
2. Using a number line: Teaching suggestions to use with small groups, a number line and number tile cards to use on the number line for 3 and 4-digit numbers, a game for partner or center work, and an independent practice worksheet.
