This worksheet helps students to practice the difference between a row and a column. Various arrays are shown and students are asked to circle rows in red on some problems, and on other problems to circle the columns in green. Students are also asked how many objects there are in all.
On the second page, an array is shown and students are asked to fill in the blanks:
There are ___ columns.
There are ___ objects in each column.
There are ___ objects in all.
At the bottom of the page, students are given a small area of graph paper to draw a specific array.
I have found this approach to be a great way to introduce arrays and multiplication. Have fun!
