I use this rubric at the beginning of the year to show students that managing their time during an assessment, showing their thinking, and reflecting on their errors are just as important as getting that one accurate answer if they want to be successful math students. I especially want them to see the value in showing thinking and in self-reflection and realize that each will be recognized. The rubric can also be a useful tool for making grade modifications for special education students.
This document includes a description of how I use the rubric and calculate a percentage score from it. It also includes a full page version with space for writing comments and obtaining parent signatures or a half page version for copying two rubrics at once.
