This is a rubric I created for my ceramics students learning about the fundamental coil technique. They have had some sort of ceramics experience in the past, but I made the rubric open enough to help those that need it and challenge others that need to be pushed. I graded upon the criteria of size, use of construction technique, glaze, creativity/originality, and craftsmanship/construction. It is a four-point rubric to easily assess those that are above and below adequate scores. Students also have the ability to have some say in their grade by assessing half of the total point value. The student has 50 points possible and the teacher assesses for another 50 points for a total of 100 points.
