This is the rubric used as a formative assessment during a middle school Chinese Music unit. Chinese drumming was one of the topics covered.
In this task, students are asked to watch a video of Chinese performers doing a type of Taiko drumming to a pre-recorded folksong. The students are then asked to come up with rhythms and movements to a Chinese folksong of their choosing. After completing the creative cycle (which includes gathering peer assessment / feedback), the students perform in front of their classmates and then complete a final evaluation in their workbooks. Typically, the performances are video'ed so that students have the ability to watch their work and evaluate it accurately.
This package includes 3 files of the same rubric.
1) The original rubric was created using Numbers for Mac OSX. It is an editable file that can be changed to suit your class as needed.
2) A PDF that has the SLOs removed, with an empty space left. Here, you may add any extra information needed.
3) An Excel datafile. This includes all the tables and text boxes used, which can then be arranged in Excel as you like.
