I created this rubric to grade my high school Art 1 students. I think it could be easily used for other levels, however, and I wanted to share it with everyone here. I graded upon the criteria of: simple geometric sketches for students to find the perspective they want to draw from, use of elements of art (pushing value and form), composition (making students zoom in to have their subject touch edges of the composition), class time/effort, and craftsmanship/border of the drawing. The rubric is laid out in a four point format, each criteria being 10 points for the students and the teacher to both grade. Altogether it makes for a 100 point project. There is also space for the student and the teacher to make comments for communication through writing.
