Rubric for Assessing Group Speaking Activity: English, French, Spanish
Use this form to track and assess student performance in group and pair work.
Write the name of each student in the column to the left and rate ( +, ?, -) the listed categories (Listening, Speaking, Accuracy/Proficiency, on Task).
Ideally the teacher would get to all students, but this is rarely possible. Instead, tell the class that 2-4 students will be chosen at random during the activity.
Try to rate/score/grade each student at least once a week during a group or paired speaking activity so that by the end of the week all students in the class have a grade.
Tell students their grade at end of the week so that they continue to try their best throughout the week. If a student is chosen earlier and knows that he/she has been graded he/she may not complete subsequent tasks as well.
