This rubric gives you a simple, yet precise way to assess your recorder students. It has seven areas to assess including pitch, rhythm, intonation, articulation, posture, fingering and style. It also allows you to mark whether the student received a recorder karate belt and which color they received. I typically don't print this out, but input everything on the computer. I then fill the karate belt field with a color (gray or black) when the student achieves that belt color before I save the file with that student's name. I then move to the next page in the document when that student is ready for the assessment for another belt. You can also print these out and fill them in by hand.
