This may be adapted to use in all subject areas. Teachers may choose to use this rubric to score spelling/word study sentences, sentences within a paragraph, or to have students use as a guide when writing. The rubric brings focus to spelling, punctuation, sentence structure (subject/predicate), and neatness of work (if not typed). A blank rubric is included if you choose to add your own comments or want to present a rubric with fewer words. This is helpful to use when you want students to get back on track with writing basic complete sentences!
I have referred to ELA CCSS for grades ranging from 2-6 (Language/conventions). Although this rubric does not meet all aspects of each CCSS at the higher levels, it does bring focus to the basics of writing complete sentences. It may be used as a tool for those upper level students who are still struggling with writing basic sentences (subject/predicate).
I hope you find this helpful.
