Teaching what integration looked like can be tough! The Ruby Bridges movie does an excellent job showing how one little girl in New Orleans, LA helps to propel social change during a turbulent time in American history. I use this movie after teaching the VS.9 unit as it demonstrates key vocabulary terms such as discrimination and integration.
Included is a two sheet question guide with mostly opinion based questions. The question sheet was written for a 4th grader but could be adapted to older grades too. There are also 30 discussion cards that you can use in a variety of ways to elicit good conversation among students.
