This novel study compliments the wonderful and inspiring "Ruby Lee & Me" by Shannon Hitchcock. Although this historical fiction novel is set against the backdrop of racial integration of the 1960's, this novel study focuses more on the themes of family, friendship, and forgiveness. There are two sections of matching vocabulary, as well as pages to record character traits, similes, and text connections. There are comprehension questions for every two chapters that focus on predictions, character analysis, comparing and contrasting, and making inferences. All questions are thoughtful and provoke higher-order thinking.
