This visual support rudeness indicator helps students to identify if their words or comments are appropriate, neutral or rude. Rudeness is something that has come up regularly when supporting students, especially students with Autism, ADHD, and Emotional Disturbance. I’ve used a one dimensional visual support to help address this area of need, but rudeness has two dimensions– what you say and how you say it. Therefore, it has lead me to develop a two dimension communication graph to address rudeness. This effective tool has directions attached of how to fully implement with fidelity. Rude is very subjective. This tool helps to eliminate the subjectivity and show students visually how they are communicating and how they can change their communication. Great for home use too!
