About This Product:

The library in our district, they host their own ‘Battle of the Books’ competition. While there is a national competition held every year, the one that we are participating in isn’t associated.
I am one of the group leaders for our 3rd/4th grade team. One of the benefits is I get the chance to read the 10 books the students have to read and lead mini “battles”. For each book read, I have to write 100 literal questions. These aren’t your typical comprehension questions. They are obscure, detail oriented questions that might possibly be a question for multiple books within the book list.

During our practices, all of the questions from each of the 10 books are cut up (1,000 questions total) and placed into a tub. There are two teams of students; a mix of 3rd and 4th graders. One question is read out loud and the first team to raise their hand has to answer. The answer must include the title of the book and the author’s name pronounced correctly. Page numbers aren’t a requirement as they are listed if there is a discrepancy in answers. Within the given time frame, the team with the most amount of questions answered correctly wins the round.

In this set, I have also included a read-aloud book for your students to illustrate each chapter as you read aloud. Whether, you are participating in Battle of the Books or not, this book makes a great read aloud for the intermediate elementary grades.
