Description
This unit was created for one week of whole group guided reading and writing. I use this for my first week of instruction once we've gotten through the beginning of the year. The theme for the week is RULES and ROUTINES with the focus reading strategies CHARACTERS and SETTINGS. Each day a different story is read and will focus on character and setting activities. The stories used in this unit are David Goes to School, Chrysanthemum, Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse, The Recess Queen, & Miss Nelson is Missing. This unit includes daily lesson plans, posters, parent connect letter, an original strategy song, comprehension strategies, literacy connections, extension activities, sort activities, and crafts.
