This is a great assessment to use to review the most common rules of capitalization. There are a total of 30 questions: the first section requires students to identify and make changes to words that should be capitalized as well as words that are incorrectly capitalized. The second section is a 10-question true and false section that measures students' understanding of the basic facts in the rules of capitalization.
The test assesses understanding of the following capitalization rules:
★ the beginning of a sentence
★ proper nouns (names, places, months, etc.)
★ book titles
★ movie titles
★ first and last words in a title
★ important words in between the first and last word of a title (no articles and no prepositions that are less than five letters)
★ the beginning of a dialogue
★ the personal pronoun "I"
This resource is in Word to allow teachers to modify sentences as needed.
