Rules of Negative and Zero Exponents
I use this worksheet to review the rules of negative exponents and exponents of zero to practice these rules with my Algebra students.
The first four questions give the rules as formulas that the students have to write explanations for. They then can practice the formulas on the 24 provided questions.
The problems get harder as the worksheet continues.
On the final 8 problems the students will be able to combine the rules in the numerator and denominator separately, put them back together and then simplify the numerator and denominator together to get their final answer.
This has offered great practice for my students by scaffolding the questions and having them increase in difficulty slowly.
