This activity has been designed to enhance student understanding of events in literature with a problem/solution relationship. This activity references the version of classic fairy tale, Rumpelstiltskin, as retold and illustrated by Paul O. Zelinsky. It can be used as both a direct instruction activity or as skill practice at a literacy station or reading center.
The purchased document contains story event cards with corresponding elements to be applied to the chart on the student page of the document. The purchased document will contain all story events available for student work.
Similarly, the event cards on the pages following the student assignment sheet are blank for the preview only. They, too, will become available upon purchase.
I have found this to be successful when used as follow-up at a comprehension station. Pages within the document contain printable cards for all of the activity content. These can be cut and used by each student or printed on cardstock, cut and laminated, and used cooperatively by a small group prior to the student independently completing assignment page.
