Why and how is a song about Run-On Sentences effective for students?
Run-Ons occur when multiple thoughts or ideas occur in one sentence. Run-ons commonly lack punctuation but can be easily corrected. The video ‘Run-Ons’ contains a memorable storyline in which a young man speaks in a run-on fashion. His father helps him analyze his words and punctuation, and the errors are visually discussed and fixed within the video. On the chorus of the song, I invite my students to stand and run in place, to add an element of movement to make our learning more memorable.
