Description
Do your students write long run-on sentences, with no punctuation, conjunctions, or transitions? This BUNDLE provides OVER 100 opportunities for proofreading and editing practice, with a specific focus on run-on sentences. As they write, students will also be reading about key authors and texts in the history of literature, building background knowledge, and putting your course texts in context. This makes a great Do Now, Starter, or Bell-Ringer activity.
This bundle includes sentences about the history of literature, from the earliest writing to postcolonial literature. You can use them to help students review as they progress through your chronologically-structured course, or you can use them as a supplement to thematically-structured courses to put texts in context. Either way, your students will be building important background knowledge and learning how to avoid run-on sentences!
This resource includes:
- 118 slides, each with a single run-on sentence for correction, alongside a list of strategies for students to use.
- 118 slides, each with a single run-on sentence for correction (the same sentences as above), alongside an image to provide further context.
- 28 worksheets for teachers who prefer to give students several sentences to correct on one page.
- An answer key showing one possible way to correct every sentence.
The worksheets are provided as a PDF, and the slides are provided in both PDF and PPT format.
