To review vocabulary associated with Russia and the former Soviet Union, my students play "Finger Twister". You can design your own clues for the vocabulary words, or you can download the ones I have created. This vocabulary review keeps students talking about the vocabulary and focused on the task, as they are required to use their hands in this challenging activity. Students are instructed to only use their dominant hand as you call out the clues.
At the completion of the activity, I give my students 5 minutes to create their own set of 5 clues. (They MUST be able to physically complete their own clues!) Then students take turns calling out their clues to the other students in their group. They like creating a challenge for others, and I mandate that their clues to the vocabulary must be relevant to our curriculum.
MAKE SURE TO COPY 2 FINGER TWISTER BOARDS PER PAGE, or their fingers will not be able to reach the clues!
