Russia has such incredible architecture that it's easy to be inspired by it (particularly the onion domes). On first observation, Russian cathedrals look very complicated, but when broken down, step by step, they seem less formidable to draw. Your children can focus on the shapes, as the entire building can be broken down into rectangles, triangles, and semi-circles. Your kids really will have a good time with this, even my first graders found success with this project!
Included in the packet are ELEMENTS OF TRADITIONAL RUSSIAN ARCHITECTUrE:simple architectural terms that students can easily grasp and use in their drawings.
Included here are some onion dome templates that mosdt of my first graders used as starting points to begin their drawings. Some of my older students chose to use them as well, some did not and took on the challenge of making symmetrical domes themselves.
Finally, I have included a how to draw a Russian cathedral step by step which many of my students found helpful in getting their buildings started!
