This S Blends Read & Clip Card set includes 20 beginning blend word cards, primarily with CCVC spellings that are perfect for beginning readers!
These make a great word work center, early finisher activity, or morning tub activity. Students simply read the word on each card and use a clothespin to clip the picture that matches the word.
This activity is easy to prep! Just print, laminate, and cut each page in half. I also like to put a colored dot on the back of each card behind the correct picture so students can simply flip the card over to check their work.
Need an exit slip to quickly assess how your students are doing with this skill? Just print either of the two read-and-match pages included at the end of this resource.
Cards for the following words are included:
skip, scab, skin, skull, skunk, small, smog, snap. sniff, spill, spin, spot, stem, step, stick, sting, stump, swim, stamp, swing
These are easy to differentiate! Provide your students with only the CCVC cards, or add in the CCVCC options to offer more of a challenge.
I use this activity as an independent center for my second grade students who are just beginning to learn English and for my Special Education inclusion students who are beginning readers.
They also help to meet the following Common Core Standard for students in First Grade:
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.1.3.B: Decode regularly spelled one-syllable words.
This resource is also included as part of my Blends Read and Clip Cards Bundle
. Save by purchasing all my blends read and clip cards together!
